Server Alerts
FadeHost can tell you the moment something happens to your server that you didn't do yourself. Stopping, restarting, or hibernation never notify — only these events do:
| Event | When it fires |
|---|---|
| Went offline unexpectedly | The server died while it was running. |
| Crashed | A crash report was found after it went down (the crash card on the server page has the diagnosis). |
| Back online | The server is running again after an unexpected outage. |
| Backup failed | A backup did not complete. |
Rapid crash loops are throttled so you get one alert, not fifty.
Turning alerts on
Open your server in the panel and go to Settings → Alerts. Pick the events you care about and one or more destinations:
- Discord webhook — alerts arrive as embeds in the channel of your choice. In Discord: channel settings → Integrations → Webhooks → New Webhook → copy the URL and paste it into the panel.
- Email — sent to your account email, optionally to everyone the server is shared with.
- Phone push — instant notifications through the free ntfy app. See below.
Phone push setup
- Install the free ntfy app — search "ntfy" in the App Store or Play Store, or find the links at ntfy.sh. No account is needed.
- In the panel, switch on Phone push notifications and press Save. A QR code and a private link appear.
- Scan the QR code with your phone's camera and open the link in the ntfy
app — or add it manually in the app: + → Use another server, server
https://ntfy.fadehost.net, and the topic shown under the QR code.
That's it — the next time the server has a problem, your phone buzzes.
Anyone who subscribes to the link gets the same alerts, so you can pass it to a co-owner or your mod team. That also means the link should be treated like a password: don't post it publicly.
Switch phone push off, save, then switch it back on and save again. That issues a brand-new link and permanently silences the old one.
Account-wide defaults
Instead of configuring each server, open Notifications in the panel's Account menu and set your default channels once: a Discord webhook, email preferences, and a single phone-push topic. Every server and bot that has no alert settings of its own delivers there automatically.
A resource with its own settings keeps them and inherits only what it leaves empty — so a server with its own Discord webhook still reaches your account phone topic. Unticking every event on a resource silences it completely, defaults or not. The same page lists everything that overrides your defaults.
FadeHost announcements
Want maintenance windows, incidents, and new features pushed to your phone?
Subscribe to the public announcements topic with the ntfy app — the
Notifications page in the panel shows a QR code for it, or add it manually:
server https://ntfy.fadehost.net, topic fadehost-announcements.
Notes
- iPhone notifications are relayed through Apple's push service; the alert text itself always comes from FadeHost's own server.
- Alerts are included with every server — there is no extra charge and no limit on how many you receive.
