Custom domains

Point a domain you own at your Minecraft Java server — play.yourdomain.com instead of an IP or a FadeHost address. You keep full control of your DNS; FadeHost never touches your registrar.

Find it under Settings → General → Your own domain on any server. (Prefer not to bring a domain? Every server also gets a free FadeHost subdomain on five domains, right above it.)

How it works​

  1. Type your hostname (e.g. play.yourdomain.com) and hit Save.
  2. The panel shows the exact SRV record to create at your DNS provider — name, priority, weight, port and target, all copyable. The SRV record carries the port, so it works no matter which port your server runs on.
  3. Create that record wherever your DNS lives (Namecheap, GoDaddy…). On Cloudflare? Use the panel's Add record automatically option instead: click Create a scoped token (Cloudflare opens pre-filled with DNS-edit-only permission), paste the token, and FadeHost creates the record for you — the token is used once and never stored.
  4. Hit Check DNS — the panel verifies the record live and flips to verified when it matches. Propagation can take up to an hour with some providers.

Players then just type play.yourdomain.com into Add Server. No port needed — the SRV record tells the game where to go.

Good to know​

  • Java Edition only. Bedrock clients don't read SRV records; Bedrock players keep using the normal address and port.
  • If your server runs on the default port (25565), a plain CNAME to your server's address also passes verification.
  • Changing your server's software or settings never breaks the domain; if the server ever migrates to a different node, re-check the panel — the record's target may need updating (the panel always shows the current correct value).
  • FadeHost-owned domains can't be used here — that's what the free subdomain picker is for.
